Although there are numerous toy soldiers inspired by World War II, here’s something we’ve never seen before – miniatures versions of the lads from the famous BBC comedy Dad’s Army. We can’t believe that despite coming to an end in 1977 and regularly being repeated on television channels across the world, this is the first time anyone has officially recreated Captain Mainwaring and his entire company in miniature.

Well, all that has changed thanks to Warlord Games, which has just released 28mm unpainted and unassembled models of the main characters from the show – Captain Mainwaring, Sergeant Wilson, Lance-Corporal Jones, Private Pike, Walker, Frazer, Godfrey, Warden Hodges, the Verger and Reverend Farthing. The figures come in both military and civilian attire.

Warlord is releasing the figures in a box set that retails for £40, which includes all 18 superbly detailed miniatures, as sculpted by Paul Hicks. Also included are plastic bases and a leaflet chronicling Dad’s Army and how you can field them in tabletop wargame Bolt Action.
