All things Meccano still exert a huge nostalgic pull and a pre-War No.2 Motor Car Constructor set, complete with a diecast driver, was no exception, for it realised £413. Highlight of this section, however, had to be a complete set of four Matchbox ABBA dolls: money, money, money did indeed come into play, for the quartet achieved a whopping £826!
Tinplate also got a look-in, and proved yet again that Japanese and German items are in demand. A very collectable Yonezawa battery operated Jetspeed tinplate racing car whizzed off the rostrum to sell for £295. This lovely model featured a forward/back gear shift as well as a speed regulator for good measure.  In the model soldiers and figures section a good Britains Royal Artillery Mobile Howitzer Unit set found a new home for £295 while a more modern 1970s Britains Army Group set sold for £247.
Again, it was the rare and the unusual scored highly: an uncommon Sacul Walt Disney Rob Roy and Redcoat set achieved a creditable £271.
In the diecast section the auction trod familiar ground.  Here, highlights included a Britains Fordson Power Major Diesel Tractor (which realised £188), a Dinky Guy Warrior 4-Ton Lorry that sold for £177 and the ever-popular Dinky Mighty Antar Low Loader with propeller, which achieved £224.
Warwick and Warwick’s next diecast, model soldier and toy auction will be held on 24 January 2018.
