Characters from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey have been turned into a collectable figures range by Vivid Toy Group. Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf and other key stars from the upcoming trilogy have been turned into a series of models, costing from just £1.99 all the way up to £19.99 for a special detailed 6-inch version.

At the lower end of the price scale are the Collectable Figure packs for £1.99. Rather like the popular LEGO Minifigures, these are plastic mini characters that come in a mystery sealed pack, so you never know what you're buying. There are 17 to collect and each is available in three different metallic-effect finishes: gold, pewter and bronze.

Slightly more costly are the Basic Figures for £7.99. There are more detailed 3.75-inch action figures with up to 12 points of articulation and each character has distinctive facial features, clothing, weapons and accessories. There are five to choose from, including Bilbo, Gandalf, Thorin Oakenshield, Legolas and Grinnah.

However, if you really fancy splashing the cash then perhaps you should go for the £19.99 Collectors Figure Assortment - the connoisseur's choice, if you will. These are slightly larger versions of the Basic option, measuring 6-inches and with more intricate details. Again, there are five figures to collect with accessories, Bilbo comes with his trusty sword Sting, scabbard, travel pack and, the incredibly essential, canteen accessoriesl Gandalf (pictured here) has a sword, wizard's hat, scabbard and staff; leader of the dwarves Thorin Oakenshield has two swords with scabbards and an oak shield arm guard.
