Worcester-based auctioneer also selling 1940s Dinky lorry in October auction. ...
Griffiths and Charles Auctioneers in Worcester has been in touch to let us know that during its sale on Saturday, 5th October it will be selling some rare Wrenn model railway locomotives and an extremely scarce early Dinky Toys lorry, dating from the late 1940s.

The first of the star items is lot 285 which is a W2238, 4-6-2 Southern Pacific locomotive number 35028 Clan Line of the prestigious Merchant Navy class built by the Southern Railway. Secondly, lot 286 is a W2268A, a 4-6-2 Southern Pacific Locomotive 34004 named Yeovil, a member of the West Country class and was used for hauling the express trains on the former Southern region of the railways.

Griffiths and Charles said: "These are very rare boxed collector’s model railway locomotives in extremely good condition. Both models were produced by Wrenn towards the end of their manufacturing period and are deemed very scarce and highly collectable by model railway enthusiasts."

Lot 299 is a 503 Foden flat truck with tail board and curiously no tail hook which indicates it is one of the very earliest models and would have been produced around 1947/1948. Griffiths & Charles can also offer a rare 1950s boxed Formo three rail vintage train set which was one of the few produced by the Graham Farish Company in the early 1950s.
