A series of vintage Scalextric and Tri-ang slot car sets were recently sold at Aston's Toy Auctions in Dudley. However, it wasn't one of the classic sets that caught the eye of bidders and instead, collectors were keen to snap up a Scalextric perspex shop display. The item was finished in black and white with the famous Scalextric logo on the front. There were three tiered shelves that could hold up to 12 models - making it a perfect and attractive way for slot car collectors to display their own models. Estimated at £80 to £120 it sold for £100.

But it wasn't the only slot car item to race to success and below you can see some of the other pieces that appeared in the auction, along with their hammer prices. The descriptions are taken from the Aston's catalogue.

Scalextric Set 50, includes: C73 Porsche 804 in red; C72 BRM in blue; track; etc. Overall appears G+, some paint loss to drivers in cars, some corrosion to track, in P/F box, tears to sides of lid and surface tears to top of lid and bottom of box. Sold for £20.
