With the new Star Trek film due in cinemas any time now, the merchandising machine for the movie has reached warp factor nine but before collectors complain they 'cannae take no more', Hot Wheels is preparing to release a brand new collection of diecast models based on the Starship Enterprise and enemy ships.

The 1/50 scale models based on the movies and television shows come with special stands to display them on and are available in pristine or battle-damaged conditions. Replicas confirmed so far include the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 (both the classic and updated version), USS Excelsior, as seen in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, USS Kelvin from the opening scenes of JJ Abrams first Star Trek film and the Romulan's Narada vessel from the same film.

These models are expected to start shipping in June and we'll keep you posted with any more details about other ships in the range. You can see the first few on this page - the original is to your right and the updated version is below.
