The recent specialist toy sale at Batemans Auctioneers featured a stunning collection of model trains

The recent specialist toy sale at Batemans Auctioneers featured a stunning collection of model trains that brought in the enthusiasts. A fine clockwork Bing two and three quarter inch gauge loco and tender sold for an impressive £2,900, well above estimate its £100-150.


The 0-4-0 tank loco and 6 wheel tender, circa 1902, carried a maroon with gold livery with No2631.
Also selling well was a GNR green Bassett-Lowke 3 inch gauge, live steam, E5 4-4-2 loco and 6 wheel tender with No1435. It featured marks to base 'Restoration and paintwork Hefford, Littledale, Brighton' and was 77cm in length. The lot finally sold for £1,000.
