Original box art and Airfix's most popular models on display until December. ...
This weekend (1st June) the Royal Air Force Museum London  is launching its signature exhibition commemorating and celebrating the national institution that is Airfix. Plus, to celebrate the launch of the exhibition, on the 1st and 2nd June, all visitors aged eight and over will have the opportunity to make and take home their own 1/72 scale model of an Airfix Hurricane for free! The building sessions take place between 11am and 1pm and 2pm until 4pm.

This exhibition will chart the history of this Great British Institution by displaying original Box Art as well as Airfix’s most popular models from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s in the Museum’s Art Gallery.

An important part of the exhibition will be the examination of how Airfix has permeated the social fabric of the United Kingdom and how it has influenced the leisure activities of generations of young men and women since the company’s foundation - inspiring many to take up their own careers in the aviation industry.
