Enjoy a wonderfully nostalgic trip down memory lane

Enjoy a wonderfully nostalgic trip down memory lane on the Bank Holiday weekend 30th April to 2nd May from 11.00 a.m. till 5.00 p.m. in St Andrew’s Church, Cotterstock, PE8 5HD. You will see childhood playthings, fashions and furniture from the 1830s to the 1980s.

Exhibits will include Victorian children’s boots, shoes, bonnets and christening robes adorned with fine lace and embroidery. An early wooden rocking crib, a cast iron Victorian cot, rocking horses and china headed dolls that have survived for over a century. The exhibition will show the development of model making and building from early wooden bricks to Bayko, Meccano and early Lego.

Visitors will also see boxed sets of Tri-ang and Hornby train sets and layouts with trains running all weekend thanks to members of the Market Deeping Model Railway Club.

Do you remember playing with Dinky Toys, Pelham Puppets, Action Men and the Raleigh Chopper Bike or pushing your children in prams from the 1950s and 1960s, they will all be there? Ladybird books, comics and annuals including Beano, Bunty, Rupert, Eagle, Topper, Beazer and Dandy will be on display too. A video will run throughout the weekend to hopefully rekindle more memories.

Admission is £5 for adults (cash only please), accompanied children are free. The price includes a complimentary goody bag (whilst stocks last). Please note there are steps going down to get into the church. Refreshments will be served in the village hall and, it has been rumoured, the renowned flowerpot people and friends might be out and about in Main Street once again!
