New releases unveiled at London Toy Fair 2019

This week, the Collectors Club of Great Britain team visited Toy Fair to catch a glimpse of what's new and coming soon for collectors. It is the UK’s largest dedicated toy, game and hobby trade exhibition taking place at London's Kensington Olympia and plays host to hundreds of exhibitors, from start-ups to some of the biggest toy companies, launching thousands of new toy lines.

Although largely aimed at the general toy market, there is still a good collecting presence and it's an excellent chance to get a sneak peek at the new releases due from the likes of Corgi and Oxford Diecast, plus the brands handled by Amerang (Norev, Minichamps and Jada) and Tobar (Bburago and Maisto).

There was plenty to excite with most of the models that we saw last week at Corgi's press day down at its Margate HQ plus some excellent new tooling from Oxford Diecast. Surprise of the day here was the confirmation that there will be more variants of its superb new 1/43 scale Weymann Fanfare tooling. The next livery will be Southdown, which is sure to be a huge success.

Amerang had plenty to show off from its handled brands - historic F1 machinery from Minichamps, classic cars and Le Mans winners from Norev, and tempting TV & Film favourites by Jada - the highlight of which was the fabulous 1/18 scale classic Batmobile with metal figures and working lights.

A visit to Tobar revealed plenty of new models from both Maisto and Bburago. The big news on this stand was the launch of a great value range of 1/18 scale Moto GP bikes and a price reduction for 2019 of 25% on its entire Bburago range.

The organisers of the Toy Fair, the British Toy and Hobby Association, run an Editor's Choice Award each year for the best new releases, chosen by the industry's media in attendance. This year's winner, announced this morning, is Hornby Hobbies for its excellent Hogwarts Express Train Set. DCC ready, the set will retail at £199.99 and features the famous locomotive plus two coaches, all in the correct livery of course.
