LEGO has unveiled some brand new sets inspired by The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Following on from the very successful models based on the Lord of the Rings franchise, these are bound to be a hit with LEGO collectors and fans of Bilbo Baggins. Also, as we've often stated here on Collectors Club of Great Britain, LEGO is definitely one of the growing areas of collecting, with the minifigures alone going for decent prices on eBay and at some toy fairs.

As such you should always keep an eye of LEGO sets that include unique minifigures that aren't available anywhere else. One of our favourites from these upcoming models is the spooky Necromancer included in the Dol Guldur Battle Set - even better the character is voiced by the hugely popular Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch, so his fans may be looking to pick up any toy associated with him... or they may just like magicians that can control the dead.

79011 Dol Guldur Ambush (£19.99) - fight through the Gundabad Orc ambush and into Dol Guldur. Build the fortress ruins of Dol Guldur where the Gundabad Orcs lie in wait for Beorn with their weapons and firing mobile catapult. There are traps everywhere in the old ruin to capture the great warrior. Can Beorn avoid the huge spikes at the entrance, hidden flick missile, deadly swinging hammer and axe traps?

79012 Mirkood Elf Army (£29.99) - defend the Elven fortress against invading Orcs with the Mirkwood Elf Army. Repel the Gundabad Orc warriors in Mirkwood Elf Army with rotating, splitting tree, ambush function, weapon rack and six minifigures. The Orcs are trespassing on the lands of the great Elven king, Thranduil, and a thrilling battle is inevitable. Climb the rotating tree at the edge of Mirkwood Forest and keep watch. Flick missiles from the wall, then grab a weapon from the rack and attack! Split the tree in two for ambush mode to send Elven warriors flying over the wall and shock the Orc invaders.

79013 Lake-town Chase (£49.99) – escape from the Master of Lake-town with Bilbo Baggins in a Lake-town Chase. Help Bilbo Baggins escape a Lake-town Chase with house-prison, armoury, boat, catapults, weapons and five minifigures.  Bilbo Baggins and Thorin Oakenshield have washed up on the shores of Lake-town. Help the heroic Bard the Bowman to sneak them in aboard his boat, hide in the barrel and sail into town. Sneak through the secret passageway into the armoury to grab a weapon and tiptoe past the Guard to take the prison key. Blow out the prison wall for the ultimate distraction!

79014 Dol Guldur Battle (£69.99) - defeat the forces of evil in an epic conflict with Dol Guldur Battle. Defeat the Necromancer of Dol Guldur with Gandalf The Grey and Radagast in Dol Guldur Battle with magical wall, statue and six minifigures. Rumours of the rise of an ancient Evil have brought Gandalf and Radagast to investigate the fortress ruins of Dol Guldur. Flick the magical wall to make the sinister Necromancer of Dol Guldur appear to the Wizards. But beware – Azog and the Gundabad Orcs are about to attack with a rolling catapult.
