New Le Mans models from Norev

There's an unusual mix of replicas heading your way from Norev this month - from a rather bog standard looking Renault 16 from 1967 to the sublime Renault Alpine A442. We may as well start with the latter, as it's definitely our top pick from the new Norev models. This particular example is the car driven in the 1978 Le Mans race by Guy Frequelin and Jean Ragnotti. The prototype racing car (seen to your right) was designed and built by Alpine but funded and powered by Alpine's owner Renault, specifically to enter the race.

Although it wasn't successful in 1978, only managing to complete 358 laps, an A442B finally won the race in 1981 - driven by Didier Pironi and Jean-Pierre Jaussaud. After winning the Le Mans, Renault withdrew from the event to concetrate on Formula One. The Norev model (ref: 185146) features a cracking yellow, orange and black finish, complete with super sharp logos across the body. It's available now in 1/18 scale and retails for around £59.99.

Up next is another Le Mans model from Norev - the Peugeot 905 Le Mans, driven by Thierry Boutsen, Yannick Dalmas and Teo Fabi. Although the race was originally won by a TWR Jaguar XJ220C driven by John Nielsen, David Brabham and David Coulthard, the victory was revoked when the XJ220C was disqualified after a steward compained Jaguar was not running catalytic converters. This meant the Peugteo 905 running racing number one came in second place, after completing 374 laps. The 1/18 scale replica is reference number 184775 and can be picked up for a similar price as the above.

Finally in the 1/18 releases is something a little more pedestrian - the Renault 16 1967 in black (ref: 185129). The large family hatchback was produced between 1965 and 1980 and was actually voted European Car of the Year in 1966. The 1967 version of the motor included improved heating and ventilation, along with a redesigned dashboard. Again, it can be bought for around £59.99.

Moving on to 1/43 scale and some more modern pieces this time - the Citroen DS4 2011 in Babylone Red (ref: 155452) and Alfa Romeo Giulietta (ref: 790043). Both cost £39.99.
