We interview ModelZone chief exec and take a look round the store in our exclusive video. ...
Hopefully you've been following our news stories about the ModelZone store in central London. Unfortunately the much-loved shop in Holborn had to close down because the premises are being turned into a hotel and, for a while, it was unclear how the company was going to replace its flagship London location. Well, thankfully, we didn't have to wait long to hear that ModelZone had secured a new building and we had to wait even less time to get a look round the store because it opened earlier this week!

On Monday, June 3rd ModelZone held a spectacular opening celebration complete with the 501st Garrison dressed as Star Wars characters and an appearance by Formula One racing driver Roldofo Gonzalez, along with his team Marussia F1 car. Before the store opened in the morning, there was a huge queue outside with eager punters keen to get their hands on some models... and a free goody bag packed with quality items.

We were extremely impressed by the sheer amount of items the staff had managed to pack into the store, from plastic kits, toy soldiers and diecast cars to remote control helicopters, LEGO sets and model railways. What's more, chief executive Martin Carr explained to us that this stock will change depending upon feedback from collectors - so make sure you let ModelZone know what pieces you would like to see in the store.

Anyway, although we were sad to hear the Holborn shop had closed down, we're convinced this new location will be a huge success and we would love to hear your thoughts about the store, if you've been to visit. You can find it at 52-56 New Oxford Street, just a short walk from Tottenham Court Road tube station or call 020 7637 7439 to see if they'e got a particular item in stock.

In the meantime, make sure you watch the video below to get a look inside and hear the thoughts of Martin Carr.
