Something a little off the beaten track here. In fact, something that can run on tracks!
In its current issue, our sister publication, BRM (British Railway Modelling), has a fascinating article by Howard Smith on how to create a working model of NZG's diecast Liebherr A900C excavator, as used by railway maintenance company, Story Rail.
Turning the already excellent 1/50 scale excavator into an incredible working model turned out to be no mean feat and it makes for fascinating reading as well as providing real food for thought as to what else could be done in similar fashion.
