James Bond sets East Bristol record

In their January 2017 Toy Sale, East Bristol Auctions achieved a world record price for a Corgi 268 Green Hornet ‘Black Beauty’ diecast model – an eye watering £950 (premium inclusive). Nearly a year to the day, and they’ve done it again. This time with a Corgi James Bond 270 Aston Martin, which sold for a premium inclusive £1100. Believed to be the highest price ever achieved for the 007 classic at auction, the model was described as being ‘the best known in existence.’ Auctioneer Andrew said "it was absolutely shop-fresh – it had never been removed from the box, and was a real showstopper in terms of condition."

Other diecast, some from the same private collection, also fetched lofty prices. Examples such as a rare white version Man From UNCLE ‘Thrush Buster’ Corgi model sold for £780 (plus premium), and a rare Dinky ‘Joseph Mason Paints’ Mini Van sold for a staggering £800 (plus premium). "Condition is everything," adds Andrew "most of these models were the best that money could buy, and they really struck a chord with the serious collectors."
