With just a few weeks to go until Auto Assembly 2012 - Europe's biggest Transformers convention - the organisers have announced that this year is set to be very special, thanks to record breaking attendance figures. What's more, even though the event has alreay set a new European attendance record for a Transformers convention, people are still rushing for tickets.

It's been a while since we've covered the event and a lot has been announced since our last update. So, in other Auto Assembly news, a few more details have been released regarding activities over the weekend. Firstly, the fancy dress contest will be making a welcome return - so dig out your cardboard boxes to make the perfect Blaster costume. Next, the free special edition postcards that each attendee receives as part of their goodie bag have been unveiled. This year's cards feature artwork by Auto Assembly's in-house artist Ed Pirrie, Titan UK’s artist Kat Nicholson and Marvel UK G1 artist Jeff Anderson and you can see one example below.

It's also been announced that Jagex, developer of the upcoming massively multiplayer online videogame Transformers Universe is supporting Auto Assembly. The Cambridge-based developer is giving out a range of free gifts. It will also be donating a special artwork print, which will be entered into the charity auction.

What's more, on the Friday evening there is a special presentation of the animated Transformers movie preceeded by a short introduction by G1 voice actor Paul Eiding. Paul is then going to join the crowd as it watches the movie and then take to the stage for a short Q&A session afterwards to answer any questions attendees may have about the film and his work on it.

Finally, attendees will receive a limited edition lithograph (seen above), ilustrated by Marvel UK artist Jeff Anderson and coloured by Kris Carter, the artwork has been inspired by some of the old comic covers from the British Marvel Transformers comics and features Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge. The litho is limited to a print run of just 1,000 copies and is only going to be made available at Auto Assembly 2012.
