Hot Wheels Elite Nigel Mansell Formula One models

Hot Wheels recently sent us three new Formula One models. The three cars were all driven by F1 legend Nigel Mansell, spanning the years 1989 and 1990. They're modelled in 1/43 scale and each is limited to no more than 10,000 pieces. To give you a better idea of the super detail on each of these models, we've filmed some video previews, which you can watch below. Ferrari F1-89 Nigel Mansell Hungary GP 1989

The Ferrari F1-89 is the single-seater Ferrari that competed in the 1989, designed by John Barnard, the technical director of Ferrari during that season. The Ferrari F1-89 was the first Ferrari he was responsible to design and he proposed for the first time ever a big innovation in an F1 car: a semiautomatic sequential gearbox. His idea was to speed up gear change and it was accepted eventually used by all teams. The F1-89 was powered by Ferrari's own 3.5-liter V-12 engine which produced up to 600 horsepower and was driven by Nigel Mansell, one of the world’s top drivers.



Ferrari F1-90 Nigel Mansell Brazil GP 1990

The Ferrari F1-90 was the new Ferrari car that competed in 1990. It was a developed version of the Ferrari F1-89 with a reworked and improved body. It was powered by a 3.5-litre V12 engine and produced 680 horsepower. Nigel Mansell drove the car during this year, his second season with the Scuderia.

The Ferrari F1-90 was already a good car but it was also improved during 1990. Nigel Mansell won the Portugal GP, which was the only victory of the season and was also his last victory for the Scuderia Ferrari.
