Take a look at the DeLorean Time Machine in our video! ...
"Where we're going we don't need roads!" Well, mainly because where we're going is a review of a diecast model... but you get the idea. That famous quote from the original Back to the Future is almost as famous as the amazing DeLorean Time Machine that starred in the film, alongside Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.

Anyway, despite the fact there are several diecast examples of the DeLorean already, that isn't stopping Hot Wheels stepping on the gas and hoping to get up to 88 miles per hour! Recently Hot Wheels sent us its 1/43 scale take on the car and it's certainly a bit of a belter! The time travelling apparatus on the rear of the DeLorean is very fine with good colouring across the numerous plastic parts, meanwhile the brushed steel finish across the exterior is equally impressive - immediately giving the model a unique look.

We particularly liked the inclusion of the car's amusing number plate, which states "OUTATIME" and a miniature version of the time machine controls in the interior of the DeLorean, which manage to evoke the spirit of the real thing despite the small size. Of course, the only disappointment is that the famous gull-wing doors don't open (and that it doesn't actually time travel, obviously). However, it looks like Hot Wheels is aiming to correct this because at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg it announced a new 1/18 version of the DeLorean, which you can see in our video from the show.

Anyway, enjoy the video of the current model and remember, to get the latest collecting news delivered direct to your inbox every two weeks, sign up for our e-newsletter.
