End of an era

Toy fair organiser Julie and John Webb, has announced the end of its popular Huntingdon event.

The Trustees of Wood Green Animal Shelters, the current location in Huntingdon, have made the decision that the complex has to be demolished and replaced with a more modern, efficient and welcoming visitor centre.

The decision has been made because the venue has been assessed by external experts and the conclusion is that it is not fit for purpose without very costly repairs and maintenance works.

While the arena and café area need to be demolished and rebuilt, work will not commence until the start of 2019. All remaining Toy and Train Collector's Fairs at this venue will go head in 2018 as advertised.

When all the work has been carried out, the venue will not be suitable for events such as toy fairs and swapmeets, so after twenty-three years Toy and Train Collector's Fairs will finally end. "Obviously it will be a great disappointment to us, stall holders and the very loyal members of public" Events Manager, Lorraine told us. "To find another venue of this size in this area is obviously very difficult, however, we are very pleased to inform you that The Burgess Hall Events & Conference Centre at St Ives, Cambridgeshire, just the other side of the A14, fits a lot of our requirements. Although not as large as Wood Green, the new venue will  be able to accommodate approximately 125 pitches".

The 2019 dates at St Ives are as follows:  Sunday 3rd February, Sunday 7th April, Sunday 9th June, Sunday 8th September and Sunday 3rd November.
