Although they may not have broken any more records, three Land Speed Record Cars by Dinky certainly performed well at Tennants latest sale. The set included Auto Union in red, MG Record Car in green and Thunderbolt in silver and despite originally being estimated at £50-80, the items reach topped speed to realise £130.

But these weren't the only Dinkys to do well at the auction and six early models, including a Jaguar in grey, Frazer Nash in blue, Sunbream Talbot in red, Lagonda in grey and two 24 Series reached the top end of their pre-sale estimates to net £200.

Likewise a boxed Dinky Supertoys Foden Diesel 8-Wheel Wagon, No. 501, also gained the interest of bidders. The model was the 1st cab type with light grey body, red flash and hubs and came in its original pictorial card box, which helped it to go under the hammer at £220.

Finally, if you fancied kickstarting your Dinky collection, then perhaps lot 234 could have been a good bet. The lot included a collection of 48 vehicles featuring a range of genres, such as cars, commercials, emergency vehicles, farming vehicles, coaches, military and aircraft and sold for £550, way above its estimate of £250-350.
