To commemorate the first anniversary of the Edward Stobart’s death, Corgi is releasing a limited edition Eddie Stobart truck set. ...

Corgi is launching a limited edition Edward Stobart truck set comprising two detailed diecast models to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of haulage magnate Edward Stobart, Britain’s well-known haulier, who passed away on 31st March 2011.

The set, which has an RRP of £124.99, is guaranteed to be a sell-out and comprises two models of the Scania 4 Series with Curtainside Trailer, the Scania 111 ‘Julia’ and the Edward Stobart Story – a booklet featuring the story of Eddie Stobart Ltd.

Edward started his career with JC Bamford trucks. Using the delivery trucks from his father’s agricultural company he expanded into haulage and turned the business into the Eddie Stobart haulage company in 1976. He opened his first depot with just eight trucks and 12 employees.

At that time the fleet consisted of a mixture of DAF 2200s and 2800s, a Seddon Atkinson and a Scania 111 named Julia. Over time, Edward grew the business into the massive expansion that we know today, with memorable trucks such as the Scania 4 Series modelled in this commemorative set that marks the peak of Edward’s career.

By introducing smart trucks and drivers in uniform, he began to change the public’s image of the industry. This fresh image with its clean trucks led to an interest in the man behind the brand. As the company and the fleet grew, Edward responded to the demand for information by forming the official Stobart Members Club.

In March 2011, Edward sadly passed away, and his family and friends received an overwhelming amount of support from fans. The Eddie Stobart diecast models continue to be a hugely popular range with Corgi selling over 25,000 models on average a year.
