Corgi to re-release the classic Goldfinger Aston Martin DB5

One of Corgi's most iconic models is due to make a return in 2015. The James Bond Aston Martin - Goldfinger 50th Anniversary model is a perfect recreation of Corgi's famous toy complete with working ejector seat, front-mounted machine guns and a bullet-proof screen.

Here's the description from Corgi: "In 1965 Corgi won the first Toy of the Year for the Goldfinger James Bond Aston Martin DB5. Now, in 2015 we present a new release, fully featured DB5 for a new generation of James Bond fans.

Presented in the iconic silver livery of the film, a limited number will be produced in a gold finish. Displayed in a special retro-styled anniversary box, the new model will come complete with many features such as James Bond driver, an ejector seat, retractable machine guns and a rotating number plate."

Due for release on 1st January and priced at £19.99, the model also comes in a special 'retro' style box, featuring the classic artwork from the 1965 model. Just in case you're wondering that 50th anniversary name relates to the fact Corgi's replica was first released in October 1965. Is it too much to ask that Corgi might consider a re-release of the Batmobile to commemorate its 50th anniversary in 2016 too?

Other highlights in the 2015 range include a Battle of Britain 75th Anniversary BBMF Collection (Showcase Spitfire, Hurricane and Flight Lancaster), which is due in May (RRP £24.99); Scania R Moving Floor Trailer Eddie Stobart, Stobart Biomass (May, RRP £84.99; the newly tooled Corgi Bentley Continental GT3 (January, RRP £29.99) and the New Routemaster, London United 10, Hammersmith/King's Cross (April, RRP £29.99).
