Alarge and significant collection of Tekno Toys is being offered by specialist auctioneers Wallis & Wallis on 31 July. The sale comprises of examples from the Scania-Vabis range of trucks from the early 1950s right through the next 50 plus years, with dozens of different trucks and liveries available.

The sale comprises of examples from the Scania-Vabis range of trucks from the early 1950s right through the next 50 plus years, with dozens of different trucks and liveries available.
To most collectors, the name Tekno is synonymous with toys made in Denmark, but some may not know, or appreciate, that from 1974 they actually commenced manufacture in Holland.
More than 1000 examples have been consigned for presentation in several consecutive auctions commencing on 31 July, then 11 September, 23 October and finally on 4 December.
The toys were the property of the late Ad van Dijk, a Dutchman who started collecting trucks and kit building at the age of five. In the early 1970s, as his collection grew, he built 1/50 scale kits based on LB76 and LS110 models. Later, when Tekno Denmark moved to Holland under the name Tekno Toys the first trucks they started to produce were those of his 1/50 scale kits.
In the 1990s and early 2000s, Ad always had a stand at the toy fairs in Houten organised by NAMAC, the Dutch collectors' club. Latterly, he worked closely with Tekno to produce limited edition trucks, many of which are included in the forthcoming auctions.
Mr van Dijk’s passion for trucks made him one of the earliest experts of Scania-Vabis trucks in Europe. Ad sadly passed away in 2014.
