Will this unique piece of movie memorabilia fly when it goes on sale? ...
A tax disc for the magical car Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is among the lots being offered by Chartered Surveyors Eddisons in a special on-line auction of movie memorabilia. The disc, complete with brass holder, was purchased by the film’s producers in August 1968 at a cost of £17.10 to facilitate on-road filming and shows the registration number XKX 758 F. The guide price is £700 to £1,000.

This iconic and rare piece of movie history is one of more than 400 items from a private collection being put up for sale. They include an elegant evening dress worn by Diana Rigg in Evil Under the Sun and an original poster from the James Bond film Live and Let Die. In fact, the collection includes a significant number of vintage posters, produced to promote some of the best known films ever made, such as 42nd Street, Singing in the Rain, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Towering Inferno.

The items are available to view at the firm’s Stockport Auction Centre, Whitehill Industrial Estate, Stockport, on Monday and Tuesday April 22nd and April 23rd (by appointment). You can also check the auction at the Eddisons website -  bidding ends from 2.00pm on April 25th.
