Led by the much-admired Folland Gnat, a squadron of four long-awaited de Havilland Chipmunks is on its way as well

Brand new, and due to arrive in the UK in May, is the latest from Aviation 72. Led by the much-admired Folland Gnat, a squadron of four long-awaited de Havilland Chipmunks is on its way as well.

Wearing a fully-camouflaged livery, as displayed at the Solent Sky Museum, the Folland Gnat F.1, registration XK740, is a popular exhibit, so this excellent model will be well received. The fourth release of Aviation 72's single-seater version of the Gnat, a fifth and sixth will follow soon, modelling an aircraft at the Yugoslav Air Force Museum and from RAF North Weald in 1963.

Accompanying the Gnat on its approach to the UK will be four Chipmunks. These were announced quite some time ago, but obvious global problems have intervened. The incredibly popular de Havilland trainer, which is also a much sought-after model type by Aviation 72, will be arriving in the colours of the Army Air Corps (AV7226016) and a trio of College of Air Training airframes (AV7226018, AV7226019 and AV7226020).
