A mammoth sized collection of 1/6 scale action figures is heading to auction at East Bristol Auctions this April. The collection, spanning over 150 figures and various vehicles, was consigned from the family of a deceased gentleman in Plymouth. ‘It’s an incredible collection,’ says toy specialist Andrew ‘Apparently the collector had them all out on display around his home, it must’ve been an incredible sight.’

The figures range from run-of-the-mill 1/6 scale soldiers up to the high-end TV and film related figures. ‘It’s largely military figures,’ adds Andrew ‘but there is also a healthy dose of Marvel and DC figures. The detail on all of them is incredible. I opened up one box and there was a miniature Clint Eastwood staring back at me!’

Among the highlights of the collection is a large 1/6 scale World War Two German half-track armoured vehicle. Measuring over half a meter in length, and weighing over 15kgs, it’s certainly something to marvel at! ‘The detail is outstanding,’ says Andrew ‘it’s an exact replica of the full-scale vehicle – even the wireless operator has a carefully-stowed hip flask behind his set!’ The half-track carries an estimate of £500-800.

It’s not just full figures either. The collector obtained thousands of scale parts, weapons, accessories, scenic elements and other such items, many of which were unused and still present within their original bags when consigned. Not only that, but all the tools and machines used to paint these parts are also included in the sale.

Described by the auction house as a ‘model maker’s dream,’ the collection goes under the hammer on Saturday 27 April at 10am. The catalogue will be uploaded online two weeks prior and can be viewed via their website www.eastbristol.co.uk.
