Airfix has celebrated its 75th anniversary by welcoming full size D-Day vehicles into its headquarters!

On Friday 17th January, three vehicles paraded through the Hornby Hobbies headquarters in Margate, Kent to celebrate the milestone anniversary (seen below). Many more exciting events to honour this anniversary have also been planned throughout the year.

On 15th February, the Hornby Hobbies headquarters will be opening its doors to the public to display its largest ever diorama measuring a whopping 6 x 4m! The display marks the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in 1944 and comes complete with models of vehicles, aircraft and soldiers who fought on the beaches in France.

Although on display from February, on 18th April members of the British Legion and World War II re-enactors will be welcome to Hornby HQ for an official opening. Finally, as if this all wasn't already exciting enough, members of the Airfix 2014 Club will receive a one-off 75th anniversary collectors badge.

Airfix Marketing Manager Darrell Burge said: “This will be a fantastic year for Airfix, and by focusing on not only the 75th Anniversary, but also the two huge anniversaries of WWI and D-Day, we expect to see another surge of demand for our products.”
