Wallis & Wallis Specialist Toy & Model Auctioneers of Lewes East, Sussex held their lastest auction on 27 March. The sale included part 2 of a private collection of ‘Barn Find’ toys, one man’s toys from childhood. Stored in damp conditions many of the examples had suffered over the decades, but a good number survived and sold for an impressive £28,930.


Amongst the haul were a number of pieces which came back to life after a good clean, these included a small (260mm) but very rare Marklin tinplate steam powered Put-Put boat that sold for an impressive £11,500, to an American buyer. Also two seldom seen early mint boxed Tri-ang Minic Rolls Royce’s sold for an impressive £550 and £600. Also offered was a Bing open topped saloon car which sold for £850. 85% of the lots offered on the day sold for a total hammer price of £56,560.
