The second of this year’s Model Tractor and literature shows will take place on Sunday, 3 October, at Springfields Exhibition Centre, Spalding. The event will feature a small display of full-size tractors and again a limited-edition show model commissioned from Siku will be on sale during the event. This will be a Massey Ferguson 5460 in yellow, as used on a range of civil duties including airports. This is a very limited model, as only 999 have been made.

The Spalding show is recognised as the largest gathering of its type for farm toy enthusiasts in Britain, regularly attracting collectors and dealers from across the UK and Europe. Expect to find a wide selection of obsolete toy tractors on offer, as well as the latest model releases. There will also be plenty to search for on the many stalls selling literature, books, and ephemera. Many of the leading vintage tractor clubs will also be in attendance. There is an increasing interest in dioramas and there should be several on display.

Many model makers use the show at Spalding as a platform to release new models. Show visitors are able to use this opportunity to their advantage to purchase models previously unobtainable, as well as older and unique models not usually seen at the average toy fair.

• We have also been informed that The Model Truck and Construction Show will be held at Spalding on 20 March 2011, instead of during February to try to avoid bad winter weather after this year’s snow.
