Two of the most interesting collections of packaging and advertising material in the UK are to be brought together in the Specialist Collectors Sale held by Bamfords Auctioneers in Derby on Saturday 16th April.

Following the success of its internationally important auction of the Mansfield Metal Box Company Archive Collection last year, the lots represent all aspects of the field, with one consigner having concentrated mostly on novelty tins and promotional articles while the other has spent a lifetime amassing a fine collection of showcards, signs and dummy displays.

Almost every conceivable product and brand is to be found, and many of the several hundred packets, tins, jars and boxes are complete with their original contents.

With a number of the lots having been documented in standard reference works and provenances to some of the world’s best-known museums and collections, the sale is already drawing a lot of interest from would-be purchasers.

Later on the same day, Bamfords will be offering a collection of Corgi diecast model vehicles.

Beginning in 1962 with the gift of a Karrier Bantam Lucozade van, the models are in mint condition, with many being ex-shop stock and company rep samples rescued during the 1970s.

The 155-lot section is just one part of a sale of Toys and Childhood Memories that promises to attract bidders from across the globe who will have the opportunity to participate in person, on the telephone or via online bidding.
