OUR TOP MODEL AS CHOSEN BY THE DIECAST TEAM THIS MONTH

Kyosho
Triumph TR3A
PRICE £89.99 LIMIT NOT SPECIFIED SCALE 1/18 REF NO 08032R

Sports cars from the 1950s have a certain appeal, and engender thoughts of care-free summer drives with the wind in your hair. Of the many cars from the period, the Triumph TR3 stands out as a true classic. Built by the Standard Motor Company, Coventry, from 1955 to 1962, the basic price of one of these stylish run-abouts was £950, and this was when seatbelts were an optional extra! With the 1,991cc straight-four engine, hard-top models could reach 103mph, with a 0-60 time of just over 10.5 seconds... making the type a desirable purchase for those with a rakish need for speed.

All of the stylish attributes of the real thing can be seen on Kyosho’s gorgeous model. Most impressive is the rich red bodywork, highlighted by the length-wise white striping.

Lifting up the bonnet reveals a wonderful rendition of the straight-four engine, battery and other details. Turn the steering wheel and the front wheels move smoothly and gracefully from side-to-side; the boot also lifts to show a neatly-lined area.
