Meridienne Exhibitions will be holding the London Model Engineering Exhibition at Alexandra Palace on 20th-22nd January.

New for 2012, the exhibition will feature a competition section: the Great Model Engineering Competition 2012. The competition classes are as follows: Class 1 railway locomotives gauge 1 to 3½in gauge, Class 2 railway locomotives 5in to 7¼in gauge, Class 3 rolling stock, all gauges, Class 4 stationary and marine engines, Class 5 steam and other road vehicles, Class 6 tools and workshop equipment, Class 7 internal combustion engines, Class 8 hot air engines and Class 9 horological and scientific.

The key points the judges will be considering are: fidelity to prototype – exhibitors should provide information on the prototype of the model with, if possible, photographs or prints of the original as appropriate for the period which the model depicts; workmanship and quality of finish; and the entrant’s current or former trade or profession.
