Southdown Leyland PD2 Highbridge

As buses go, Leyland’s PD2 is a post-war classic. It was built on the reliable and long-running Titan chassis, which was produced from 1927 to 1942, then after a mid-war break, resumed in 1945 until 1970. Few designs see that kind of longevity.
EFE’s replica is well appointed, with a small lamp fitted, and the fleet number printed by the engine bay cover. There’s a very fine pattern on the grille and, if one pays close attention, very fine nut detail can be seen on all four wheels; the front units sport silver trim to bring welcome contrast.
A grab handle and pole feature in the rear entry point, and the former sprouts from a textured floor section. Silver window bars split the upper and lower glazing to add extra interest. In terms of printed livery detail, the front and rear destination boards state the route.
Rounded off by neat red-brown interior seating, and attractive green and cream bodywork, EFE’s Leyland will surely carve a niche in many bus collectors’ display cabinets.
