Something new cropped up on our radar at Diecast Collector GQ this month: Australian diecast and resin manufacturer, Models 56.
As well as its 1/24 scale diecast Interceptor Series, Models 56 prides itself on being the leading Australian 1/43 scale resin manufacturer of 1970s Australian Sports Sedans. All of its models are limited to 500 numbered units worldwide.
Each model is certified and signed in ink by the original drivers. In the case of Australian racing driver Frank Gardner, his wife Gloria and daughter Kristin Haynes, nee Gardner, gave permission for his signature to be printed on the certificates.
Models 56 specifically makes Sports Sedans because no other model company is producing them. In their day, the real life cars were attracting crowds of up to 100,000 people.
The Sports Sedans were very similar in configuration to the British Super Saloons of the same era.
