One should always expect something spectacular from Lamborghini... a marque which in the past gave us stunning supercars such as the Miura, Countach, Diabolo and, more recently, the Reventón.

For 10 years, its Murciélago was the maker’s flagship but time stands still for no man, and especially high-end auto designers. For a fitting replacement, the Lambo wizards’ alchemy pushed the boundaries even further, thus materialising in the shape of the awesome Aventador.

Hot Wheels has captured the complex angles and curves of the car very well; the real thing is like a gaudy Stealth Fighter and all those facets and undercuts have been superbly re-created in miniature.

Layered and crystal clear engine hatch glazing allows viewing of the highly detailed V12, while menacing black alloys sit over just-visible brakes which are well rendered. Super-fine black mesh sits beneath the filigree rear light units and lends welcome contrast to the almost overpowering body colour.

The car does seem to take on different personas, though, depending on the chosen colour. The colour of a car has always been subjective for many, of course. One may love the white version, and loathe the black. Our favourite is the ‘deep pumpkin’ version, which exudes all the fiery nature of the vehicle itself, and the bull from which it gets its name....
