Corgi’s brand new 1/76 scale New Bus for London, OM46601, is scheduled to be hitting the shelves in March, with production of the model currently running parallel to that of the real thing.

The original Routemaster was phased out of normal London service in 2008, more than 50 years after it was first shown to the public.

The New Bus for London features three doors at the front, centre and rear platform, which can be closed off outside weekday peak times allowing for a driver-only bus.

In keeping with the original Routemaster it also has rounded domes and red livery.

The full-size buses are due to enter service in early 2012, in time for the Summer Olympics.

Corgi’s model, which is a brand new tooling, will join its Original Omnibus Company range and will be a limited edition of 3,000, priced at £31.99.
