To celebrate the 50th anniversary of a British icon, Corgi has released a 1/36 scale 24ct gold-plated Austin Cooper (CC82290). The stunning diecast model features a special anniversary logo on the roof as well as bespoke packaging.
The Austin Cooper was the result of a collaboration between Alec Issigonis and John Cooper. When it made its debut in 1961, it was a nimble, economical and inexpensive car.
The Austin version officially became the Mini-Cooper in January 1962. Despite BMC’s worries that the Mini Cooper wouldn’t sell, the high profile motor sport success soon meant it became the classless car everyone wanted to own.
