The range of Super Sentinel steam lorries in Corgi’s popular Vintage Glory collection of steam-powered vehicles was reviewed in the September issue of Diecast Collector, so it is now fitting to contrast them with their main real-life rival, the Foden steam wagon.

Unlike the Super Sentinels that were always called ‘waggons’ with two g’s, the Foden product was marketed as a ‘wagon’ with just one! The Foden design, for any reader who missed the last feature, is mechanically described as an over-type steam lorry that incorporates a lot of standard traction engine technology...
